    Electric Vehicle Policies

    Electric Passenger Vehicles

Charging of electric passenger vehicles (EVs) at Indigo Bluffs is prohibited under all circumstances. Our infrastructure is state of the art but limited in its power delivery. Our first priority is to accommodate RVs and their power needs. We prefer to avoid the strain of overuse of our pedestals and/or supporting electrical infrastructure, which can cause short and long-term problems that inconvenience our guests.

Policy: No one shall charge any electric vehicle (EV) for any reason at any time on Indigo Bluffs property. This policy applies to all individuals accessing our property, including but not limited to employees, guests, and visitors.

Safety Concerns: EV charging stations require specific electrical wiring and safety measures to prevent hazards such as electric shock, overheating, and fires. Our local fire department recommends against charging EVs onsite or in any unregulated situation, and strongly recommends that EV owners seek out proper EV charging stations to ensure the safety of infrastructure and vehicles.

Enforcement: Authorized personnel, including security staff and designated representatives from Indigo Bluffs, are responsible for enforcing this policy. Any individual found violating this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, which may include but is not limited to warnings, towing, fines, or expulsion from the premises.

Responsibility: Guests of Indigo Bluffs are responsible for ensuring that all members of their group, including visitors, comply with this policy at all times. Should this policy be violated, guests will be subject to disciplinary action as defined in the Enforcement section.

Alternative Charging Options: EV owners have multiple options for charging their vehicles, such as public charging stations, home charging stations, and dedicated EV-charging facilities. All EV owners, whether guests or visitors, are expected to use these alternative options. If you have questions about nearby options, our office staff will do their best to assist you.

Notice: Our policies are referred to within your reservation and arrival communication as well as our printed property maps. Additionally, signs displaying this policy can be found at multiple locations on our property.

Environmental & Health Impact: Until local fire, health, and safety officials understand how to fully control the resulting contamination and health risks of Lithium-Ion batteries, our policies will remain in effect.

Liability: Indigo Bluffs, its staff, and related parties shall not be held liable for any injuries, damages, or incidents resulting from the unauthorized charging of an EV by any guest or visitor.

    Personal Electric Vehicles

Personal electric vehicles (PEVs) of any type may not be operated by anyone less than 21 years of age at Indigo Bluffs under any circumstances.

PEVs Defined: What is considered to be a personal electric vehicle?
    • Golf carts: Note that we also discourage gas-powered carts and prohibit any gas-powered vehicles that are deemed too loud.
    • E-bikes: any bicycle, unicycle, or other cycle with motor assistance.
    • E-scooters: any scooter with motor assistance.
    • E-skateboards, one-wheels, hoverboards, etc.: anything with motor assistance that does not meet one of the previous definitions.

Registration: All PEVs must be registered with our office upon check-in.

Policy: No individual under the age of 21 shall operate any PEV, as defined above, on Indigo Bluffs property. This policy applies to all individuals accessing our property, including but not limited to employees, guests, and visitors.

Safety Concerns: Camping is a high-density, close-proximity activity involving families, friends, and pets. To ensure the safety and security of all individuals on our property, we need to reduce the volume of vehicles operating at Indigo Bluffs.

Approved Charging: Charging of approved PEVs is only permitted while guests occupy their site. Unmonitored charging of any PEV is prohibited.

Allowable Operation: PEVs must only be used on our roadways and operators must abide by all road signage.

Nighttime Operation: Approved PEVs may be operated at night as long as it has lights designed for nighttime operation. We ask that nighttime operation be avoided whenever possible.

Exceptions: Exceptions to this policy may be granted on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval by management or designated authorities. Exceptions may be considered for individuals less than 21 years of age who possess valid certifications or licenses demonstrating their competence in operating PEVs safely and/or requiring their use for a defined physical reason.

Responsibility: Guests of Indigo Bluffs are responsible for ensuring that all members of their group, including visitors, comply with this policy at all times. Should this policy be violated, guests will be subject to disciplinary action as defined in the Enforcement section.
